With one week to go before our first Hotspot Race we have had 34 training tosses, 6 of which have been screened live on Benzing’s website. We are running a grand Average Speed on all the live training tosses together with the Hotspots and final. The pigeons are returning to the loft having been split up after liberation by hawk attacks. The birds that are unable to re-orientate quickly after any attack are slow to return or are lost. Daytime temperatures are high and most pigeons which are not home early will sit until the temperatures drop and they are able to return later in the day. Most late pigeons return in reasonable condition, indicating that they have not been flying for the hours that they are out of the loft. There is surface water en route from recent rains from which the birds can drink.

In order to help the pigeons orientate and think as individuals, we have tossed them in small groups for most of the 34 training flights. All flights screened online on Benzing are however done with a mass liberation.

Please be reminded that any entrant can change the order of their preferred pigeons within a team only once during the remainder of the program. This must be done at least 48 hours before Hotspot 1 (on or before Wednesday the 6^th December).

Please also remember that the pigeons to be entered in the ACE bird competition must be activated before Hotspot 1 and that Venture Racers cannot enter the ACE Bird competition.

Please note that any birds in a team where the first bird has not been paid for by Hotspot 1 (UNPAID) will be moved to venture birds on Monday 11th December and will be available to anyone else to activate.
