RACE REPORT FINAL RACE

The Final Race was held from Kyle Dam near Masvingo from 600 km. The weather was clear with good visibility and variable winds. The first half of the race had a headwind up to 10km per hour and the second half had side and tail winds up to 15km per hour. The maximum temperature did not exceed 25 degrees Celcius.

1555 pigeons were sent to the race. The first pigeon clocked after 7 hours 28 minutes of flying.

• 29 pigeons arrived within 10 minutes of the winner
• 361 pigeons arrived on the first day
• 830 pigeons arrived by 12 noon on the second day (53% of basketed birds returned in race time)

38% of the pigeons sent did not return by the time the clock was stopped.

Super Ace Competition

The final leg of the Super Ace was decided with the US$ 600 000 prize pot. This was won by PIPA Breeding Loft with “Son of Best Kittel 934”.

Final Race

The Final Race was won by Team Miha Sovic of Slovenia with “Barbara S” and a velocity of 1337 m/min.

Grand Averages

Grand Averages was won by Al-Kandari Loft from Kuwait with “The One”.

Knock Out Competition

The Knock Out was won by Ummbirka Loft of Qatar with “Surprise”.

Team Competition

The team competition was won by the Syndicate Deon Theron / P J van Druten of Zimbabwe.

GPS Trackers

Our tracking information showed that the leading pigeons did not stop to drink enroute which is surprising given the distance and time of flight. The pigeons were sent in super health and early pigeons looked in good shape on arrival.

12 tracker birds arrived on day 1 and the first 4, up to 8hrs 38 min of flight, did not stop for water. 32 trackers arrived on day 2 with one clocking at 02.58 am during the night. The highest flight above ground level was recorded at 1372 meters (4500 feet)

We are pleased to announce that we have decided to offer an additional race in view of the number of pigeons which returned after the 600 km Final Race flown on 29th July. The pigeons are fit and in remarkable condition and will be ready for this extra flight.
