RACE REPORT HOTSPOT 1

Hotspot 1 was flown on Saturday 12 June. The pigeons were sent in exceptionally good condition having been prepared well. The weather conditions appeared to be good with clear skies, mild temperatures and with a slight tail wind. Despite this the race was difficult for the late returning birds. We basketed 5071 birds and by the time the race was stopped we had 4593 birds home. 9.4% of basketed pigeons did not return in race time. There are of a number of pigeons which have been injured by hawk attacks and it is possible that pigeons have been dispersed by hawks enroute. The last tracker bird home showed that that pigeon flew approximately 80 km in different directions until it found its bearing. There are still 5 trackers out which if any return should be able to give us useful information as to where they went.

We have had some late pigeons return after the clock was stopped. They are in remarkably good condition but most have been rested from the short tosses during the week. We will have only one online training toss this week from 103km on Wednesday.

The up-and-coming competitions starting this weekend are the Team Competition and the 1st leg of the Knock Out.

Entry into the Knock Out is automatic for all activated birds.

The Team Competition is any 5 activated pigeons in the name of one fancier or syndicate selected from any of the pigeons sent. The selection is automatic for fanciers with 5 activated pigeons and is not open to fanciers with less than 5 activated pigeons. The 5 pigeons can include paid for from the “For Sale” list.  If you have more than 5 then a selection must be made and emailed to us. No selections can be done after liberation. Please send the list through as early as possible to make administration easier. We plan to have the basketing list published by 16.30 on Friday 18th.
